Cleantech company Cavotec is looking to enter into agreements with private Indian port operators, including the Adani Group, and public port authorities offering solutions to improve the productivity of ports.

The Switzerland-headquartered firm manufactures products including motorised cable reels, automated mooring and shore power solutions.

Currently, its products and services are used in multiple applications in ports across the globe including India.

Cavotec CEO Daniel Pagels said the company is looking at direct agreements with port operators and authorities this year to offer their solutions.

“We just visited the Adani Group headquarters in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Tuesday. We had discussions with DP World about the possibilities in India. Also, we will be visiting the Chennai port tomorrow. There is a lot of activity happening right now because we see the decarbonisation and need for more improved and efficient ports. So, our products can play a vital role in these aspects,” he said here on Wednesday.

Pagels was speaking on the sidelines of inaugurating Cavotec’s new production centre near Chennai. It is the fifth production facility of the company after those in China, Germany and Italy. It will manufacture various powering solutions like motorized cable reels for ports and industries.

The company with a turnover of 180 million euros in CY2023 is looking to expand its presence in India. While 60% of revenue of generated from ports, the remaining 40% is sourced from industrial applications.

“The new facility will cater to both domestic market and exports. We will be using this facility as an export hub for shipping out to other facilities, as well,” he added.

With presence in around 30 countries, it designs and delivers connection and electrification solutions for decarbonization of ports and industrial applications.
