AFCOM Cargo has commenced scheduled freighter operations between Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Dubai World Central (DWC), strengthening air cargo connectivity between India and the Middle East. The service began on August 16, 2026, according to NMIA.
The Chennai-based cargo carrier will operate three freighter flights per week, with each service capable of carrying up to 20 tonnes of cargo. The new route adds dedicated air freight capacity from the Mumbai region to one of the world’s major logistics and transhipment hubs.
Dubai’s position as a major gateway to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Africa and Europe gives Indian exporters and importers access to a wider network of international markets through the new connection. The service is expected to support freight forwarders, logistics companies and businesses seeking reliable capacity on the India–West Asia trade corridor.
The freighter service will cater to a broad range of cargo, including general freight, e-commerce shipments, engineering products, pharmaceuticals and perishables. Dedicated freighter capacity is particularly important for time-sensitive cargo that requires predictable schedules and faster handling.
The launch also comes as NMIA rapidly expands its international cargo network. The airport has recently welcomed its first international freighter operations, including Hong Kong Air Cargo services, while additional cargo connections to major destinations across Asia, Europe and West Asia are being developed.
For Western India’s exporters, the AFCOM service provides an additional cargo gateway and reduces reliance on Mumbai’s existing airport infrastructure. The new Dubai connection is expected to support the growing movement of Indian products into Middle Eastern and global markets while strengthening NMIA’s position as a major air cargo hub.
With three weekly frequencies and up to 20 tonnes of capacity per flight, AFCOM’s operation represents another step in the development of NMIA’s international freighter network and India’s air freight connectivity with global logistics hubs.
