Air One has completed the air transportation of an 8.4-tonne industrial gas turbine from East Midlands Airport in the UK to Kazakhstan, highlighting the carrier’s capabilities in handling oversized and specialised project cargo.
The shipment required careful planning because of the turbine’s substantial dimensions and weight. Air One coordinated the movement as a specialist airfreight operation, providing a time-critical alternative to conventional sea or overland transportation for the high-value industrial equipment.
The turbine was transported aboard a Boeing 747 freighter, which provided the payload capacity and main-deck loading capability required for the outsize cargo. The operation demonstrates the continued importance of dedicated freighter aircraft in moving heavy industrial equipment to destinations where speed and reliability are critical.
Kazakhstan has been expanding and modernising its power-generation infrastructure, creating growing demand for the movement of turbines, generators and other specialised energy equipment. The country is also developing new gas-fired generation capacity to address electricity shortages and support industrial growth.
Air One’s latest operation illustrates the role of specialist air cargo operators in supporting energy, infrastructure and engineering projects across Central Asia. Such shipments often involve complex loading requirements, route planning, aircraft selection and coordination between airports, logistics providers and project teams.
The successful delivery also highlights the flexibility of airfreight for oversized project cargo when equipment needs to reach a remote or landlocked market within a tight timeframe.
With Kazakhstan continuing to invest in power-generation infrastructure, demand for specialised logistics solutions capable of moving heavy and high-value equipment is expected to remain strong.
