APM Terminals (APMT) Lázaro Cárdenas has received a new fully electric Super-Post-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) crane.

The crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 100 tonnes and is equipped with advanced technology designed to match existing performance standards while improving energy efficiency.

It will support efforts to reduce vessel turnaround times and improve operational flexibility for various vessel sizes.

The equipment will be integrated into the terminal’s upcoming expansion, which includes additional automated rail-mounted gantry (ARMG) cranes and will raise annual capacity to 2.2 million TEUs by 2026.

According to APM Terminals Mexico, the new crane marks a step toward modernising operations while supporting low-emission logistics infrastructure at the port.

Last month, APMT Mexico announced a phased 19-year, $160 million modernisation plan for its Puerto Progreso container terminal in Yucatán.
