The long-pending Bandar port project is expected to be completed by next year, with the Andhra Pradesh government reaffirming its commitment to accelerate coastal infrastructure development, officials said.
As part of the push to strengthen the region’s economic and logistics base, development works worth ₹2 crore were launched in Pedana constituency. The projects include upgrades to local roads, drainage systems and basic civic infrastructure aimed at improving connectivity and living conditions in coastal and hinterland areas.
Officials said the Bandar port, once operational, will play a key role in boosting maritime trade, fisheries and employment generation, while also supporting regional industrial growth. The port is expected to improve cargo handling capacity along the Andhra coast and reduce pressure on existing ports.
Local representatives noted that the parallel rollout of constituency-level infrastructure works is intended to ensure that communities surrounding the port benefit directly from improved public amenities and economic opportunities.
The state government said it remains focused on fast-tracking port-led development while aligning local infrastructure investments with broader coastal and logistics growth plans.
