The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) reported a 6.6% year-on-year increase in total cargo throughput to 308.5 million metric tons in 2025 and said it expects stronger sea cargo growth in 2026, according to PPA.

Domestic cargo throughput rose by 8.84% to 114.09 million metric tons in 2025 from 104.83 million metric tons in 2024, driven by higher shipments of construction materials, petroleum products and industrial raw materials.

Foreign cargo throughput increased by 5.33% to 194.41 million metric tons from 184.58 million metric tons over the same period.

Containerized and non-containerized cargo volumes both grew, with total container throughput exceeding 8 million TEUs, including 5.55 million TEUs of foreign container traffic and 2.99 million TEUs of domestic container traffic.

Ship calls reached 664,817 in 2025, up from 621,374 in 2024.

Roll-on/roll-off traffic increased by 13.3% year on year to 12.81 million vehicles in 2025. PPA projected RoRo traffic growth of 6.15% in 2026, indicating continued demand for inter-island transport services.

The Philippine Ports Authority is a government-owned and controlled corporation of the Republic of the Philippines mandated to administer, manage and operate public ports throughout the country, as well as to regulate port services and facilities under its jurisdiction.
