Container train operations have officially commenced from the Container Terminal (BPBW) near Old Bedi Port, with the successful dispatch of the first container rake. The milestone marks a significant step in strengthening rail-led logistics infrastructure in the region.

With this development, all G-RIDE terminals are now operational for handling private rakes, enabling more market-driven and flexible freight movement. The move is expected to enhance operational efficiency for exporters, importers, and logistics service providers by offering improved rail connectivity from the port hinterland.

Industry stakeholders view the commencement of container train services as a major logistics boost for the region. It is set to reduce dependence on road transport, lower logistics costs, and improve cargo evacuation efficiency, while also contributing to environmental sustainability through increased rail freight share.

The new rail-linked container operations near Bedi Port are poised to support faster cargo movement, decongest highways, and strengthen the overall multimodal logistics ecosystem, aligning with India’s broader goals of promoting rail-based and sustainable freight transportation.
