Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), Chandigarh Region has successfully handled its first containerized foodgrain movement for Food Corporation of India (FCI), marking a significant step toward modernizing foodgrain logistics in the country.

The container rake carrying foodgrains was dispatched from Ludhiana to Ajni, highlighting CWC’s growing capabilities in multimodal logistics and efficient supply chain management. The movement demonstrates how containerized transport can enhance speed, safety, and efficiency in the distribution of essential food commodities.

The rake was flagged off by Group General Manager (Commercial) Shri Nirmal Bhandari in the presence of Shri Naveen Kumar, Regional Manager, Chandigarh, along with officials from FCI and Indian Railways.

This milestone reflects CWC’s continued commitment to strengthening logistics infrastructure, supporting India’s food security framework, and enabling seamless transportation of foodgrains across different regions of the country through modern and efficient supply chain solutions.
