d’Amico International Shipping S.A. (DIS), a global operator in the product tanker market, has placed an order for two new medium-range (MR1) product tanker vessels at Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in China through its operating subsidiary d’Amico Tankers D.A.C.

The shipbuilding contract was signed by d’Amico Tankers D.A.C., the Dublin-based operating arm of DIS, headquartered at The Anchorage, Sir John Rogerson’s Quay. Each of the 40,000 deadweight ton (dwt) vessels is priced at US$ 43.2 million.

The newbuilds are scheduled for delivery in April and July 2029. The contract also includes options, exercisable within three months of signing, for the construction of up to two additional vessels of the same type.

DIS currently operates a fleet of 29 double-hulled product tankers across the MR, Handysize, and LR1 segments. Of these, 27 vessels are owned and two are bareboat chartered-in, with an average fleet age of approximately 9.5 years.

Listed on the Milan Stock Exchange, d’Amico International Shipping maintains its operational base in Dublin alongside a network of 10 offices worldwide. The company is part of the d’Amico Società di Navigazione SpA (d’Amico Group), which was founded in 1952 and is active in international shipping, with a focus on an eco-efficient fleet of product tankers as well as dry bulk carriers.

The latest newbuilding order underlines DIS’s long-term commitment to fleet renewal and operational efficiency in the global product tanker market.
