Ellerman City Liners is set to launch a new Baltex service, strengthening its shortsea shipping network and expanding connectivity in Northern Europe.

The Baltex service will link key ports in the Baltic region with Ellerman’s existing shortsea and deepsea services, offering shippers enhanced schedule reliability and improved transit options for containerised cargo. The move forms part of the company’s wider strategy to grow its regional footprint and support customers seeking flexible, cost-efficient alternatives to long-haul road transport.

Ellerman said the new service is designed to meet rising demand for intra-European trade, driven by nearshoring trends and the need for more resilient supply chains. By integrating Baltex into its network, the carrier aims to provide smoother cargo flows between the Baltic, North Europe and onward global destinations.

The service is expected to commence operations shortly, with regular sailings and competitive transit times, reinforcing Ellerman’s position in the European shortsea market.
