GreenLine Mobility has expanded its liquefied natural gas (LNG) truck deployment in partnership with Tata Steel, aiming to strengthen sustainable logistics operations and reduce carbon emissions in long-haul cargo transportation.
The expanded collaboration focuses on increasing the use of LNG-powered trucks for the movement of steel and related raw materials across key industrial corridors. The initiative is designed to replace a portion of conventional diesel-powered freight movement with lower-emission alternatives, supporting cleaner supply chain operations.
According to industry sources, LNG trucks offer lower greenhouse gas emissions and reduced particulate pollution compared with traditional diesel vehicles, making them an increasingly viable option for large-scale industrial logistics. The deployment is expected to contribute to improved fuel efficiency and cost optimisation over longer transport routes.
Tata Steel said the initiative aligns with its broader sustainability and decarbonisation goals, particularly in reducing Scope 3 emissions from logistics operations. GreenLine Mobility added that the partnership will help scale up green trucking infrastructure and encourage wider adoption of alternative fuel vehicles in India’s freight sector.
Experts noted that industrial players are increasingly investing in alternative fuel logistics solutions as India’s manufacturing and infrastructure sectors push towards lower-carbon supply chains and enhanced environmental compliance.
