GT Lines has announced the launch of KTX (Khorfakkan Tanzania Express), a new direct shipping service connecting Khorfakkan, UAE, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with operations set to commence in mid-August.
The new service will operate on a 10-day frequency using two dedicated vessels, offering customers a reliable and efficient connection between the Gulf and East Africa. The service will provide a transit time of just nine days between Khorfakkan and Dar es Salaam.
According to the company, KTX represents GT Lines’ first dedicated service focused on strengthening connectivity between East Africa, the Gulf, the Indian Subcontinent, and the Far East through an integrated logistics ecosystem.
Beyond providing a direct shipping route, GT Lines said KTX will serve as a strategic logistics corridor by integrating maritime transportation, terminal operations, and inland logistics into a single platform.
Cargo moving to and from Tanzania will have seamless access to key facilities and markets, including Gulftainer’s Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal (KCT), Sharjah Commercial Terminal (SCT), the UAE domestic market, Iraq through ICT Umm Qasr Terminal, GT Lines’ Gulf Connect feeder network serving GCC countries, and the company’s expanding Far East and Indian Subcontinent (ISC) networks.
The company said the new service is part of its broader strategy to strengthen regional and international trade connectivity while providing customers with greater supply chain efficiency and wider market access.
GT Lines noted that every new service enhances its logistics network and supports its vision of building an integrated maritime and logistics platform linking Asia, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, Africa, and beyond.
