India’s table grape exports are witnessing steady growth, supported by the increasing adoption of new and improved grape varieties that are better aligned with international market preferences.

Exporters are shifting from traditional varieties to newer seedless and premium-grade grapes that offer enhanced shelf life, superior taste, and better visual appeal. These attributes are helping Indian shipments gain stronger acceptance in key markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Industry stakeholders note that the transition is being driven by evolving consumer demand, stricter quality standards, and the need for higher yields and disease resistance at the farm level. Farmers, particularly in major grape-producing regions such as Maharashtra, are increasingly investing in advanced cultivation practices and modern varieties to stay competitive in global markets.

The introduction of these varieties has also enabled exporters to optimize logistics and reduce post-harvest losses, a critical factor in long-haul shipments. Improved packaging techniques and cold chain infrastructure are further supporting export growth by maintaining quality during transit.

In addition, compliance with international phytosanitary norms and traceability requirements has improved significantly, strengthening India’s position as a reliable supplier. Exporters are leveraging technology and certification systems to meet stringent import regulations in premium markets.

Despite logistical challenges and fluctuating freight costs, the outlook for India’s table grape exports remains positive. Industry experts expect the continued adoption of new varieties, combined with better supply chain efficiencies, to drive sustained growth in the coming seasons.
