    Ocean Network Express (ONE) has achieved a significant milestone in its decarbonization roadmap with the arrival of the vessel “ONE Strength” on the east coast of Latin America. This next-generation, environmentally efficient containership is the first of its kind in the region for the carrier, reinforcing ONE’s fleet expansion strategy and its commitment to advancing sustainable maritime operations.

    The “ONE Strength” has been engineered to enhance operational performance while substantially reducing environmental impact. Its design incorporates advanced technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency and lowering emissions across operations.

    Key environmental features include:

    Readiness for methanol and ammonia fuels, enabling future conversion to these cleaner energy sources;

    Advanced hull design optimized for higher energy efficiency;

    State-of-the-art energy-saving devices;

    Smart technology integration to optimize operational performance;

    Shore power connection, allowing zero-emission operations while berthed;

    Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system compliant with NOx Tier III international standards.

    At 335 meters in length and 51 meters in beam, the vessel is classified as Neopanamax, making it suitable for transit through the expanded Panama Canal. It offers a capacity of approximately 13,932 TEUs. The “ONE Strength” is part of a broader series of 20 large, methanol- and ammonia-ready vessels currently under construction for ONE, with deliveries scheduled between 2025 and 2026.

    The ship will join ONE’s ‘SX1’ (East Coast South America Service 1), linking the Far East with the east coast of South America. The service provides direct coverage to Río de la Plata ports and extensive connectivity to Southeast Asia via Singapore.

    “The arrival of the ONE Strength on the east coast of Latin America reinforces our commitment to sustainable innovation and to our customers in the region,” said Colin de Souza, President of ONE Latin America. “This vessel represents a significant step forward in our journey toward more efficient global operations with reduced environmental impact, in line with our 2030 target of cutting Scope 1 carbon emissions by 70% and our mission to achieve net-zero carbon shipping through best practices and collaboration.”
