    VOC Port Authority calls for proposals to build a shipyard on 49 ha of land and 7 ha of waterfront

    State-owned VO Chidambaranar Port Authority has called bids to set up a shipbuilding and repair yard on 49 hectares of land and 7 hectares of waterfront area.

    The land and waterfront area will be allotted to the successful bidder for 30 years on an upfront/annual lease payment basis, the port authority wrote in the tender documents.

    For the land area, the port authority has set a reserve price of ₹2,704/- per sqm for 30 years on an upfront payment basis and ₹159.18 per sqm per annum on an annual lease rent basis.

    For the waterfront area, it has set a reserve price of ₹1,352/- per sqm for 30 years on an upfront payment basis and ₹79.59 per sqm per annum for annual lease rent basis.

    Bidders have to quote a premium over and above the reserve price set by the port authority for the land and waterfront area.

    A nominal lease rent of ₹1/- per square metre per annum will also be levied from the successful bidder for the duration of the lease period if the allotment is made on an upfront basis.

    Bidders should have experience in constructing, repairing, or maintaining ships/vessels under any recognised classification society (IRS, DNV, ABS, etc).

    Bidders not having the requisite experience can have a tie-up or technical collaboration with a company possessing such experience and capability.

    The allotment of the plot will be made to the techno-commercially qualified, highest bidder of the plot.
