V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, today hosted a high-level brainstorming session with global consulting firm BCG and classification society DNV to explore the development of a Methanol and Bio-LNG bunkering terminal at the port.
The session was chaired by Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, and was attended by Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, along with senior officials of the Port Authority.
DNV led in-depth discussions covering technical feasibility, operational frameworks, safety considerations, and sustainability aspects of alternative fuel bunkering. The deliberations focused on positioning VOC Port as a future-ready hub for green maritime fuels, aligned with evolving global shipping requirements.
The initiative underscores VOC Port Authority’s proactive approach towards decarbonising port operations, supporting the adoption of cleaner fuels, and contributing to India’s clean energy transition and maritime sustainability goals.
