In a significant step towards enhancing maritime cooperation between India and Japan, the Indian Ports Association (IPA), the Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC), and the Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute (JTTRI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration in the maritime and transport sectors.
The partnership seeks to strengthen academic exchanges, promote joint research initiatives, and facilitate knowledge sharing in areas related to ports, maritime economy, logistics, and transport connectivity. Through this collaboration, the three institutions will work together to advance research, capacity building, and innovation while supporting sustainable development in the maritime domain.
The MoU reflects a shared commitment by India and Japan to deepen institutional cooperation and leverage expertise from both countries to address emerging challenges and opportunities in the maritime sector. It is expected to provide a platform for collaborative studies, policy dialogue, and the exchange of best practices that contribute to the growth and modernization of port and transport infrastructure.
The agreement marks an important milestone in strengthening bilateral maritime ties and underscores the growing focus on international cooperation to enhance connectivity, efficiency, and resilience across global supply chains.
