TVS VMS, the logistics and commercial vehicle solutions arm of TVS Mobility, has partnered with Montra Electric, the electric mobility business of the Murugappa Group, to expand the use of electric trucks in India’s freight and logistics sector.
The collaboration is aimed at supporting the transition toward cleaner and more efficient commercial transportation by combining TVS VMS’s logistics and fleet capabilities with Montra Electric’s electric commercial vehicle portfolio.
Under the partnership, the companies will explore opportunities to deploy electric trucks for freight movement and last-mile and regional logistics applications. The initiative is expected to help fleet operators adopt electric vehicles while addressing growing demand for lower-emission transportation solutions.
Electric commercial vehicles are gaining traction in India’s logistics industry as operators seek to reduce fuel costs, improve operating efficiency and meet increasingly stringent environmental requirements. The shift is particularly relevant for predictable freight routes where vehicles can return regularly to charging facilities.
For TVS VMS, the partnership strengthens its focus on sustainable mobility solutions and provides an opportunity to integrate electric trucks into its broader logistics and fleet ecosystem. Montra Electric, meanwhile, can leverage TVS VMS’s industry reach and logistics expertise to expand the adoption of its electric commercial vehicles.
The partnership comes as India’s commercial transport sector undergoes a gradual shift toward electrification. Rising diesel costs, advances in battery technology and the growing availability of charging infrastructure are encouraging logistics companies to evaluate electric trucks for suitable operations.
The companies are expected to focus on practical fleet deployment, vehicle utilisation and operational efficiency as they work to build scalable electric trucking solutions.
The collaboration represents another step toward the electrification of India’s freight sector, with partnerships between vehicle manufacturers and logistics operators becoming increasingly important for accelerating the adoption of electric commercial vehicles.
