Hapag-Lloyd has announced that the container vessel Odysseus, operating voyage 642S on its Mediterranean–South America West Coast (MSW) service, will skip its scheduled calls at Genoa and Livorno in Italy as part of measures to recover its sailing schedule.

The vessel was originally scheduled to call at Genoa on October 23, 2026, and Livorno on October 24, 2026. The omissions are intended to help restore schedule reliability across the service.

Under the revised arrangements, import cargo destined for the two Italian ports will be discharged at Valencia, Spain, and transferred to the next MSW vessel, Cape Spencer, voyage 643S, scheduled to call at Valencia on October 23.

Export cargo affected by the port omissions will be loaded onto the first available vessels to provide updated routing and transit arrangements. Hapag-Lloyd will issue revised booking confirmations containing details of the replacement vessels.

The carrier has also advised customers to update their shipping documentation to reflect the revised arrangements and ensure smooth cargo handling.

Port omissions are commonly used by container lines to manage delays and improve schedule recovery when vessels fall behind their planned rotations. However, the changes may affect transit times and cargo connections for shippers using the affected ports.

Customers with shipments booked through Genoa or Livorno should check their revised booking confirmations and coordinate with Hapag-Lloyd representatives regarding updated cargo movements.
