Safeen Group, a shipping unit of Abu Dhabi-based ports and logistics giant AD Ports, has teamed up with Azeri national oil company Socar to deliver a range of services aimed at elevating the shipping and energy landscape in Azerbaijan.
A memorandum of understanding between the parties covers shipping of crude and petroleum products, infrastructure development, and other cargo transportation.
The duo has also revealed plans to support the modernisation of onshore and offshore logistics, with a key focus on wind projects to push forward Azerbaijan’s renewable energy goals.
AD Ports said Azerbaijan, where Socar is engaged in shipping and marketing of oil, gas, and petroleum products, could serve as a pivotal development area for Safeen Group, connecting Central Asia to global markets.
“Azerbaijan’s strategic location and Socar’s expertise would ensure a dynamic platform for elevating maritime services, infrastructure, and logistics in the region, said Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of Maritime Cluster and Safeen Group, adding that the agreement “would enable the facilitation of the further development of trade corridors in this geographically significant area.”

Afgan Isayev, vice president of Socar, added: “Collaborating with Safeen Group offers the potential to amplify Azerbaijan’s maritime capabilities. We anticipate this partnership will drive our country’s maritime growth and accelerate offshore and onshore wind projects.”
This agreement follows a Caspian region energy shipping joint venture with Kazakhstan’s Kazmortransflot, and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry & Infrastructural Development for strategic cooperation in the development of a marine fleet and coastal infrastructure in the Caspian and Black Seas.
