All Nippon Airways (ANA) recently held the opening ceremony for its largest cargo facility, the No.8 cargo building at Narita Airport in Japan. The name of the new cargo facility is ‘ANA Cargo Base +,’ mentions an official LinkedIn post by ANA Cargo.

Previously scattered across Narita Airport, cargo warehouse functions will now be consolidated within ‘ANA Cargo Base +.’

Spanning 61,000m², the new facility, which is two stories high, will launch operations featuring cutting-edge technologies, with approximately 38,000m² dedicated to warehouse space.

In addition, the new cargo facility boasts ANA’s largest temperature-controlled areas and dedicated pharmaceutical storage, a reduction in trilateral cargo connection times by up to 40%, a 25% increase in cargo handling volume, and the integration of 60 AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) and 5 AGFs (Automated Guided Forklifts) which will enhance operational efficiency.

The total area of ‘ANA Cargo Base +,’ along with ANA’s largest cargo warehouse, the No.8 cargo building at Narita Airport, and the adjacent No.7 cargo building, covers approximately 48,000m². This will be expanded by an additional 10,000m², allowing for greater cargo handling capacity due to the increased space.

With the operation of the No.8 cargo building. ANA Cargo’s cargo handling scale at Narita Airport has expanded by 125% compared to the previous level.
