CMA CGM is set to restore Suez Canal routing for its India–North America Express (INDAMEX) service from September, marking a return to the traditional trade route after previous adjustments linked to regional security concerns and operational considerations.

The resumption of Suez transits is expected to improve transit efficiency for cargo moving between India, the Middle East and the US East Coast, offering customers faster connectivity compared with longer alternative routes. The INDAMEX service is designed to provide direct links between key Indian ports and North American markets.

The shipping line’s decision reflects improving confidence in the Suez Canal route and ongoing adjustments to global liner networks. Carriers have been closely monitoring conditions in the Red Sea region while balancing schedule reliability, vessel utilisation and customer demand.

The return of the INDAMEX service via Suez is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency for exporters and importers handling containerised cargo across sectors such as textiles, machinery, chemicals, consumer goods and agricultural products.

CMA CGM continues to review its network deployment strategies to optimise global connectivity while responding to evolving geopolitical risks, operational challenges and changing trade patterns.
