In a major milestone for India’s logistics and multimodal transportation sector, the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) formally commenced rail operations at the CWC Integrated Rail Terminal (CIRT), Kadugodi, with the flagging off of its first EXIM container train bound for Chennai for export movement.

The inaugural ceremony was led by senior dignitaries including Sh. P. Ananth, IRSME, General Manager, South Western Railway; Smt. Jacintha Lazarus, IAS, Executive Director (South), Food Corporation of India; Sh. Ashutosh Kumar Singh, IRSEE, Divisional Railway Manager, Bengaluru Division; and Sh. Samuel Praveen Kumar, Director (Marketing & Corporate Planning), Central Warehousing Corporation, along with other officials from Indian Railways, CWC, and FCI.

The launch of rail operations at CIRT Kadugodi marks a significant advancement in strengthening multimodal logistics connectivity in southern India. The terminal is expected to facilitate efficient cargo movement to Chennai Port while also supporting domestic freight transportation across various destinations in the country.

Strategically located, the Kadugodi terminal is designed to handle both EXIM and domestic cargo, positioning it as a key logistics hub for the region. The facility is anticipated to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce transit times, and provide seamless connectivity for exporters and importers.

With this development, CWC further reinforces its commitment to building integrated, customer-centric, and future-ready logistics infrastructure aimed at supporting India’s growing trade and supply chain ecosystem.
