Mumbai-based Dr Namjoshi Hospital Pvt Ltd (DNHPL) has emerged the highest bidder on a tender floated by state-run Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority to privatise the hospital it runs for employees.

Dr Namjoshi Hospital placed the highest revenue share of 7.8 percent for upgrading the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority Hospital into a 100-bedded multi-specialty hospital on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, officials said.

Mahatma Phule Charitable Trust which runs the Mahatma Phule Charitable Trust Hospital located at Sanpada in Navi Mumbai and the only other bidder, quoted a revenue share of 3 percent, officials added.

Dr Namjoshi Hospital runs four hospitals in Juhu, Andheri East, Kurla and Malad, each with a capacity of 100 beds. These hospitals operate in the name of Criticare Multispeciality Hospital and provide medical treatments for various specialities ranging from general pathology to cardiology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, trauma care, etc.

The 12 ports owned by the Union government have started privatising the hospitals run by them for employees under PPP mode. Mumbai Port Authority was the first to undertake this plan.
