FedEx, the world’s largest express transportation company, has intensified its commitment to sustainable last-mile deliveries in India by expanding its electric vehicle (EV) fleet. The company has deployed 13 new Tata Ace EVs in Mumbai, bringing its total EV fleet across major Indian cities—including Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai—to 59 vehicles.

The move aligns with FedEx’s global ambition to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2040. In a unique collaboration, FedEx has partnered with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to launch co-branded EVs, now operational in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, combining sustainability with popular culture.

Suvendu Choudhury, Vice President of Operations, Planning, and Engineering for FedEx India, said, “FedEx began its journey with battery-powered vehicles in 1994 and introduced hybrid-electric vehicles in 2003. Today, we are proud to drive sustainable logistics forward in India. Our phased and pragmatic approach allows us to serve customers while reducing carbon emissions.”

The initiative has been well-received by Indian consumers. A recent FedEx-commissioned study revealed that 90% of Indian consumers prefer to engage with businesses that prioritize environmental sustainability.

By integrating EVs into its delivery network, FedEx is not only reducing pollution and carbon emissions but also catering to India’s evolving supply chain needs. This expansion marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey toward green logistics in India, reinforcing its global sustainability commitments.
