Eight years after entering shipowning, Fomento Group has sold half of its four-strong fleet.
In May, it offloaded the 2016-built Fomento One newcastlemax to Greek owner Evangelos Marinakis for $55.9m, a ship the Indian miner had ordered at Daehan Shipbuilding in South Korea a decade ago.
A second newcastlemax from the same yard is now reported sold for $61m. Sources say the outfit has let go of the 2017-built Fomento Two.
The latest sale leaves the outfit with two slightly younger, same-sized ships built by Japan Marine United.
Run by the Timblos family, the group has been a significant player in the mining sector in Goa and has been a key player in the Goan economy since 1957.
Newcastlemaxes have changed hands around the world at record levels this year.
