The logistics and warehousing policy will be introduced this year, and it will be considered an industry, said industries minister Mauvin Godinho while replying to a discussion on demands for grants to industries in the House on Tuesday.

“With Mopa airport having come up and Dabolim airport’s capacity increased, there is scope in logistics. Hence, trading can take place from Goa. The day will not be far where locals will be happy doing this job and we can be a logistics hub. Goans abroad are doing the same. When this policy comes into place, the local youth will get jobs,” he said.

He further said that efforts will be made to make Verna industrial estate one of the most modern industrial estates, along with Latambarcem.

In September last year, Godinho had said that Goa will soon have a revamped industrial policy, which will provide support for the logistics sector.
