Jeddah Islamic Port recorded its highest-ever monthly container throughput in July 2026, handling 540,107 TEUs, according to the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani).
The record performance comprised 206,927 TEUs of imports, 155,270 TEUs of exports, 138,615 TEUs of transshipment cargo and 39,295 TEUs of transit containers, highlighting the scale and diversity of cargo moving through Saudi Arabia’s principal Red Sea gateway.
The surge in container volumes was accompanied by significant landside activity, with daily truck movements into and out of the port reaching 20,000. The figure reflects the extensive road logistics network required to support cargo movement between the port’s marine terminals and inland destinations.
Mawani said the record demonstrates Jeddah Islamic Port’s operational efficiency and its ability to accommodate rising freight volumes while maintaining smooth cargo flows across its marine and landside logistics operations.
The milestone further strengthens Jeddah Islamic Port’s position as a key container gateway and transshipment hub on the Red Sea. The port plays a central role in handling Saudi Arabia’s import and export trade while connecting regional cargo flows with international shipping networks.
The July record also underscores the growing importance of seamless coordination between vessel operations, terminal handling and inland transportation as container traffic through Saudi Arabia’s ports continues to expand.
With its strategic Red Sea location and growing role in regional trade, Jeddah Islamic Port remains a critical component of Saudi Arabia’s logistics infrastructure and its ambitions to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub.
