Statistical data from the Jordan Logistics Association showed a 19.1 percent increase in the number of inbound containers handled at Aqaba Containers Port during the first nine months of 2025, compared with the same period last year.

The number of inbound containers rose to 370,608 from 313,808 in the corresponding period of 2024. Exports through the port also grew by 5.7 percent to 83,127 containers, up from 78,665 last year.

In September 2025 alone, inbound containers increased by 19.4 percent to 45,649, compared with 36,490 in September 2024. Outbound containers in the same month totaled 9,701, slightly down by 1.8 percent from 9,878 a year earlier.

Jordan Logistics Association President Nabil Al-Khatib said September saw notable maritime activity at Aqaba Containers Port, especially in inbound shipments, which have maintained an upward trend since the beginning of the year.

He stated that the continued activity highlights Aqaba’s role as a strategic port offering strong logistical infrastructure that facilitates the movement of goods under various conditions.

Al-Khatib added that such growth would have a positive impact on several economic sectors, particularly transport, which remains one of the key drivers of Jordan’s overall economic activity.

The Jordan Logistics Association is a professional trade body established in 2007 to represent logistics and freight forwarding professionals in Jordan. It aims to enhance competitiveness within the shipping industry, protect freight intermediaries’ interests, and develop logistics services. The association is a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), a non-governmental organization founded in 1926 and based in Geneva.

Aqaba Containers Port is a major maritime gateway for Jordan’s imports and exports, located in the city of Aqaba on the Red Sea. It handles containerized cargo serving both domestic needs and regional transit.
