Kalyani Cast-Tech Ltd has received registration from the Industries Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat, to develop a Private Freight Terminal (PFT) at Shivlakha in Bhachau, Kachchh district, marking another step in the company’s expansion into logistics infrastructure.
The registration has been granted under the Gujarat Integrated Logistics and Logistics Park Policy, 2021. The proposed project entails a total investment of ₹110 crore, of which ₹80 crore has been classified as eligible project cost, according to a Business Standard report published on August 19, 2026.
The project is expected to strengthen Kalyani Cast-Tech’s presence in the logistics and cargo-handling segment by creating dedicated freight infrastructure at Shivlakha. The location in Kachchh, an important industrial and logistics region of Gujarat, provides access to the wider freight network serving the state’s manufacturing, industrial and export-oriented sectors.
Project investment
The overall project cost of ₹110 crore includes expenditure on land, buildings, plant and machinery/equipment, project-related infrastructure and other fixed assets. Of this amount, ₹80 crore qualifies as the eligible project cost under the state’s logistics policy framework.
The registration from the Industries Commissionerate is subject to the applicable conditions of the Gujarat government’s 2021 policy. The company will also need to obtain the necessary statutory and environmental approvals and comply with prescribed requirements associated with the development and operation of the terminal.
The development comes shortly after Kalyani Cast-Tech’s logistics arm, KMT Engineering Pvt Ltd, received approval from Western Railway to commission a Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Shivlakha station. The terminal was approved for initial operation on a non-interlocking basis for six months and has a track capacity of CC+8.
The development of freight-terminal infrastructure at Shivlakha could provide Kalyani Cast-Tech with greater control over cargo handling and rail-linked logistics, while potentially improving cargo evacuation and reducing dependence on road transportation for suitable freight movements.
The project also aligns with Gujarat’s broader policy objective of developing integrated logistics infrastructure and improving multimodal connectivity across major industrial and commercial centres.
