Hyderabad-based Kernex Microsystems (India) Ltd has secured a ₹209.82-crore contract from the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL) for the deployment of the Kavach automatic train protection system on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC).
The project spans 931 km of double line from New Boraki–New Khurja to New Bhaupur, and New Unchdih–New Sonnagar, making it one of the largest installations of Kavach to date. The scope covers survey, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning, along with signalling towers and allied infrastructure.
The work must be completed within 730 days of the Letter of Acceptance (LoA). Once operational, the system will enhance signalling security and operational safety on one of India’s busiest freight corridors.
With this order, Kernex’s total project pipeline for contracts awarded since April 1, 2024, has risen to ₹3,346.35 crore (including GST), reinforcing its strong presence in the railway safety and signalling market.
Developed by Indian Railways, Kavach is an indigenous automatic train collision prevention system aimed at reducing accidents and boosting efficiency across the national rail network.
