    Thailand has renewed the terminal concession agreement for DP World at Laem Chabang Port, strengthening the global port operator’s long-term presence in one of Southeast Asia’s key maritime trade hubs.

    The concession extension is expected to support continued investment in terminal infrastructure, operational upgrades, and cargo handling efficiency at the port, which plays a critical role in Thailand’s export-driven economy.

    Industry sources said the renewed agreement will enable DP World to further enhance container handling capacity, digital logistics capabilities, and supply chain integration as cargo volumes across the region continue to grow.

    Laem Chabang Port serves as Thailand’s primary deep-sea gateway and an important node for regional manufacturing and trade flows, handling significant volumes of containerised cargo linked to automotive, electronics, industrial, and consumer goods sectors.

    Port and logistics analysts noted that long-term concession renewals provide operators with greater confidence to invest in automation, sustainability initiatives, and multimodal connectivity projects aimed at improving terminal productivity and reducing congestion.

    The extension also reflects growing competition among global ports and terminal operators to strengthen their strategic position in Asia’s expanding maritime trade network amid evolving supply chain dynamics and rising regional cargo demand.
