Lufthansa Cargo has unveiled a comprehensive upgrade of its digital services, aiming to make the customer journey from booking to shipment tracking faster, simpler, and more transparent. The cargo airline’s latest enhancements focus on streamlining processes, reducing clicks, and delivering a more intuitive user interface, setting a new standard in air cargo digitalization.

A major highlight is the optimized “eBooking” platform, which now enables customers to book standard general cargo shipments in nearly half the time previously required. With a newly designed interface and a function that saves recent searches, Lufthansa Cargo claims the process can be completed in as little as 30 seconds. Customers are also given access to clearer routing options, relevant station information, and practical add-ons. Plans are underway to integrate additional services, including CO₂ offsetting, into the booking journey.

Shipment tracking has also received a significant overhaul. The redesigned “eTracking” system, set to go live by the end of August, allows customers to monitor their cargo with greater clarity and ease. The service now includes proactive email notifications throughout the transport chain, alerting customers in case of deviations from the planned schedule.

These developments were shaped in collaboration with Lufthansa Cargo’s customers, ensuring that feedback directly influenced the improvements. Marcel Kling, Head of Digital Sales at Lufthansa Cargo, emphasized the customer-centric approach: “Our new booking process delivers exactly what our customers wanted: fewer clicks, a clear overview, shorter processes, and faster communication. It not only makes bookings easier, but also significantly more effective.” He added that the company is continuing to invest in innovation, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence to further accelerate processes and improve transparency.

The upgrades build on a series of digital milestones achieved by Lufthansa Cargo in 2025, including the ability to book dangerous goods shipments online and the introduction of an AI-powered system to process booking requests via email more efficiently. With ongoing
investment in technology, Lufthansa Cargo is reinforcing its pioneering role in the digital transformation of air freight.
