Maersk has announced an increase in its Emergency Contingency Surcharge (ECS) for container shipments moving between India and Europe, citing continued operational challenges and elevated costs affecting the trade lane. The revised surcharge will apply to both dry and refrigerated cargo under the carrier’s published tariff.

The adjustment is intended to offset additional expenses arising from ongoing disruptions to global shipping networks, including longer voyage times, higher fuel consumption, and supply chain uncertainties. Customers are advised to review the updated surcharge structure and applicable effective dates for their shipments.

Maersk said the revised ECS forms part of its efforts to maintain reliable service levels amid evolving market conditions. The carrier continues to monitor the operating environment and may adjust surcharges further in line with changes in network costs and trade dynamics.
