Maersk has temporarily suspended standard empty container returns in several Middle Eastern countries, citing ongoing regional disruptions that are affecting port operations and logistics.

The measure impacts major Gulf markets including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman. Maersk said the temporary change is intended to ensure operational efficiency and reduce congestion at ports and depots.

The shipping line is working closely with customers to coordinate alternative return options and minimize supply chain disruptions. Industry analysts noted that while this step is precautionary, it reflects the broader uncertainties facing container movements in the region.

Maersk stressed that normal container return procedures will resume as soon as the situation stabilizes, but customers are advised to plan accordingly in the meantime.
