Operaciones Portuarias Canarias S.A. (OPCSA), part of Til, has placed an order for eight hybrid Konecranes Rubber‑Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes for its terminal at the Port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The cranes are expected to arrive in Q2 2026.
OPCSA, the Canary Islands’ leading terminal operator, had already invested in six hybrid RTGs in 2022.
The eight new RTGs will feature hybrid drives to cut fuel consumption and emissions, along with Smart Features such as Truck Lift Prevention and Auto‑Steering.
They will also include fire suppression for electrical rooms, hybrid battery packs, and hybrid gensets to support safer and more reliable yard operations.
Javier Zurita Ramírez, Project Manager at OPCSA, said: “We’re continuing our journey to to modernise and decarbonise our terminal operations, with Konecranes as our trusted partner in that process due to their exceptional hybrid drive technology and established reliability.”
Darryn Scheepers, EMEA Sales Director, Port Solutions, Konecranes, stated: “When a customer makes a new order, it means our equipment is doing its job and the partnership is strong. We’ve listened closely to OPCSA over the years and delivered cranes that meet their evolving needs. This is a model we’re ready to replicate with other terminals aiming for the same balance of performance and sustainability.”
Recently, the Port of Thisvi operator DIA.VI.PE.THI.V. S.A. invested in a Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 Mobile Harbor Crane equipped with an external power supply as part of a plan to double its capacity while controlling emissions.
