At the International Textile Summit 360, the Government of Tamil Nadu unveiled the New Integrated Textile Policy 2025–26, outlining a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen and future-proof the state’s textile industry.

The policy focuses on modernisation, sustainability, value addition, and global competitiveness, backed by structured fiscal support and a long-term execution framework.

Key initiatives announced under the policy include the modernisation of 19 lakh spindles and 8 lakh rotors over five years, upgradation of 3,000 powerlooms to shuttleless technology, and the establishment of 10 integrated textile processing units equipped with effluent treatment systems. A dedicated ₹500 crore allocation has been earmarked for spinning sector upgradation.

The policy also introduces the Tamil Nadu Technical Textile Mission (T3M) with an initial allocation of ₹15 crore, along with a ₹25 crore Research & Business Development Fund for technical textiles and man-made fibres (MMF). Strong emphasis has been placed on ESG compliance, resource efficiency, global certifications, and the promotion of non-conventional fibres and sustainable manufacturing practices.

Together, these measures aim to reinforce Tamil Nadu’s position as a global textile sourcing hub and contribute to India’s broader ambition of achieving a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030.
