The West Bengal government is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone as part of its renewed efforts to attract private investment and accelerate infrastructure development in the state. The move follows a meeting between West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and Karan Adani, where discussions focused on opportunities in power, logistics and infrastructure sectors.

The proposed agreement comes alongside the state government’s plans to develop a deep-sea port at Dadanpatra in East Midnapore district through a joint initiative involving the Centre and the state government. Around 1,700 acres of land are expected to be acquired for the project, which is aimed at strengthening West Bengal’s maritime infrastructure and enhancing its role in regional trade.

Officials believe the partnership with Adani Ports could help unlock fresh investments in logistics, port-led industrial development and related infrastructure projects. The initiative is expected to improve cargo handling capacity, boost connectivity and create new economic opportunities across the state.

The planned MoU signals West Bengal’s continued push to attract large-scale private sector participation in infrastructure development and position itself as a key logistics and maritime hub on India’s eastern coast.
