Valenciaport has recorded over 6.5 million tonnes of cargo in August 2025—an increase of 2.5 per cent compared to the same month last year.
Between January and August, the port system handled nearly 54 million tonnes, down 0.56 per cent year-on-year (YoY).
Total traffic over the past 12 months now exceeds 80 million tonnes, marking a 0.47 per cent rise.
Container throughput reached 493,455 TEUs in August, up 8.05 per cent from August 2024 , according to data from the Port Authority of Valencia’s Statistical Office.
From January to August, total container volume hit 3.8 million TEUs (+4.75 per cent). In year-on-year terms, the total stood at 5.6 million TEUs, up 7.82 per cent.
Vehicle traffic showed mixed results. A total of 31,276 vehicles were handled at the Sagunto and Valencia terminals in August, up 12.28 per cent compared to the same month last year.
However, the cumulative figure since January—325,088 vehicles—remains 13.97 per cent lower than in 2024.
In terms of international trade, China remains the port’s top trading partner. Valenciaport handled 550,983 containers (+18.81 per cent) and more than 5.8 million tonnes of cargo (+12.46 per cent) with China in 2025.
The US ranked second with 263,192 containers (+6.02 per cent) and just over 4 million tonnes (+10.21 per cent).
Algeria was the third largest container market (212,581 TEUs, +42.76 per cent), while Italy surpassed the US in cargo weight, with more than 4.6 million tonnes (+1.30 per cent).
Valenciaport recently advanced a European-funded project that strengthened security at the ports of Valencia and Sagunto.
