In a landmark development for India’s energy and logistics sector, the country has achieved its first-ever LNG ISO container loading operation at Petronet LNG’s Dahej terminal.

This achievement comes just two months after securing PESO approval for a foreign-manufactured LNG ISO tank, a crucial regulatory breakthrough that paved the way for containerised LNG logistics in India.

The successful loading marks a major transition from approval to action, proving that safe, compliant, and flexible LNG transportation via ISO tanks is now a reality in India.

Industry experts believe this model will revolutionise distributed and small-scale LNG supply, especially as multimodal transport regulations continue to evolve. It opens the door to delivering LNG efficiently to regions not connected by pipelines, enhancing energy accessibility across the country.

A heartfelt appreciation was extended to Petronet LNG, strategic partners, and all stakeholders whose collaboration made this milestone possible.

This development signals a new era for India’s LNG supply chain — enabling innovation, expanding reach, and powering future growth.
