Apollo World Connect Limited (AWCL), part of the HORICAL Group, has become the first container freight station (CFS) in South India to implement MatchLog’s AI-powered triangulation technology for container reuse optimization. The company’s Chennai facility recently completed its first successful container match using the platform, marking a significant milestone in regional logistics innovation.

The collaboration with MatchLog Solutions underscores AWCL’s commitment to sustainable logistics and operational excellence. “This initiative is a reflection of our dedication to efficiency, sustainability, and forward-looking logistics practices,” said Mr. Saravanan, Managing Director and CEO of HORICAL’s AWCL CFS.

MatchLog’s triangulation technology enables intelligent pairing of import containers with export cargo, effectively eliminating empty container movements. Using advanced algorithms and real-time data analytics, the platform optimizes container utilization, cutting waste, reducing costs, and lowering carbon emissions.

Results from AWCL’s Chennai deployment highlight the transformative potential of this innovation. Container turnaround time has dropped dramatically—from 34 days to just four days—while operational costs have decreased by 13–14%. Each matched container trip now reduces carbon emissions by up to 600 kilograms, with marked improvements in yard, fleet, and equipment utilization.

“HORICAL’s AWCL implementation proves that intelligent container reuse is not just possible, but scalable and impactful,” said Mr. Harshvardhan Gupta, Co-founder and India CEO of MatchLog Solutions. “We are converting long-standing inefficiencies into measurable gains—reducing costs, cutting emissions, and improving utilization across the chain. Our goal is to make container reuse the norm, not the exception.”

The initiative aligns with India’s National Logistics Policy, which emphasizes digital integration and sustainable supply chain practices. AWCL’s move sets a benchmark for other logistics operators across South India to adopt similar technology-driven efficiencies.

Globally, MatchLog aims to eliminate 10 billion kilometers of unnecessary container travel, cut 800,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions, and save over $100 million in freight costs. The successful rollout at AWCL’s Chennai CFS marks a concrete step toward achieving these ambitious targets and highlights how technology can deliver both environmental and economic impact in India’s logistics ecosystem.

With AWCL leading the way, industry experts believe this breakthrough could spur widespread adoption of container reuse technologies across South Indian ports and freight stations—ushering in a new era of smart, sustainable logistics.
