Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL), a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unifeeder, a DP World company, to jointly develop commercially sustainable coastal and shortsea shipping services across India.

The partnership aims to align public sector financing with private sector expertise to advance greener and more efficient coastal logistics, supporting India’s vision to reduce logistics costs, decongest roads, and decarbonize transport.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and H.E. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman & CEO, DP World, between Mr. Ganesh Raj, Global COO – Marine Services, DP World, and Shri S. T. Selvam, Director (Projects), SMFCL, during India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai.

In its first phase, the partnership will design and finance coastal shipping corridors and DFC-linked multimodal routes, leveraging SMFCL’s Maritime Development Fund and Unifeeder’s operational scale and digital capabilities.

This collaboration complements Sagarmala, PM Gati Shakti, and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, paving the way for a sustainable, low-emission, and globally competitive maritime ecosystem for India.
