    Global Freight Forum Kandla highlights India’s rising port-led competitiveness

    The Global Freight Forum (GFF) held in Kandla concluded on an energised note, bringing together top policymakers, industry leaders, port authorities, and logistics experts to deliberate on India’s evolving role in the global supply chain landscape.

    Organised by India Seatrade, the forum focused on the strategic importance of Gujarat’s ports in elevating India’s maritime trade and the growing emphasis on innovation, technology integration, and sustainability across the logistics sector. The event witnessed robust participation from senior executives representing port operators, shipping lines, EXIM stakeholders, and logistics service providers.

    In his welcome address, Mr. K. Mohandas, IAS (Retd), Chairman, India Seatrade, underscored the need for coordinated policy action, port infrastructure expansion, and efficient logistics frameworks to support India’s ambition of becoming a global trade hub. He highlighted how India’s ports, particularly those in Gujarat, continue to lead performance metrics and competitiveness benchmarks.

    Throughout the day, experts shared perspectives on capacity building, digital transformation, multimodal connectivity, and the challenges and opportunities shaping India’s maritime growth. Leaders representing large export houses, CFS operators, container logistics players, and shipping lines expressed confidence in India’s expanding capabilities and the growing conducive environment for international trade.

    An exclusive presentation by the VOC Port Authority showcased key developments in port modernisation, enhanced connectivity, and future-ready infrastructure, reflecting a national commitment to strengthening India’s maritime backbone.

    A high-level plenary featuring senior government officials and trade representatives addressed policy priorities and the macro vision for driving competitiveness. Speakers called for stronger stakeholder alignment, continued investment in coastal and port regions, and faster adoption of technology within logistics networks.

    The forum concluded with a felicitation ceremony honouring sponsors and partners, followed by a networking dinner that enabled meaningful interactions and future collaboration among industry participants.

    The Global Freight Forum Kandla reinforced India’s leadership in maritime growth and highlighted the collective resolve of the industry to innovate, expand, and strengthen the nation’s position in global supply chains.
