French shipping giant CMA CGM has announced a strategic expansion of its Morocco Shuttle (MOSHT1) service, reinforcing its presence on the Western Mediterranean short-sea trade lane and offering enhanced capacity and connectivity for regional cargo flows.

Under the updated service structure, the MOSHT1 rotation now includes a new port call at Algeciras — a key transshipment hub in southern Spain — alongside existing calls in Tangier, Casablanca and Agadir, before returning to Algeciras. This adjustment strengthens links between Morocco and Europe, while also improving connections with CMA CGM’s broader global network.

To support the expanded rotation, CMA CGM has deployed an additional 1,000 TEU vessel, increasing overall capacity on the service. The move is designed to offer customers better schedule reliability, more flexible shipping options, and improved handling of growing trade volumes across the Morocco–Spain corridor.

According to industry analysts, such enhancements reflect broader shipping trends as carriers adjust capacity and service structures to meet shifting demand patterns in regional and global supply chains — even as broader geopolitical factors, such as changes in Red Sea route dynamics, continue to influence network planning across major carriers.

The MOSHT1 service remains an important component of CMA CGM’s network in the Western Mediterranean, serving both import and export markets and supporting trade flows between northern African producers and European consumers.
