The National Shipping Board (NSB) convened its meeting in Visakhapatnam on December 18–19, 2025, bringing together senior policymakers and industry leaders to deliberate on key issues shaping the future of India’s shipping and maritime sector.
The meeting provided a high-level forum to review policy initiatives, regulatory frameworks , and strategic interventions aimed at strengthening India’s shipping industry, enhancing maritime infrastructure, and ensuring long-term, sustainable sectoral growth. Discussions underscored the importance of aligning maritime development with national priorities, including efficiency, competitiveness, safety, and environmental responsibility.
Among the participants was Mr. Arun Sharma, Executive Chairman of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) and Member of the National Shipping Board, who actively contributed to the deliberations. The collective discussions reflected a shared commitment to building a robust and resilient maritime ecosystem that supports trade growth and positions India as a leading maritime nation.
The National Shipping Board continues to play a pivotal advisory role in shaping forward-looking policies and strategic direction for the shipping and maritime sector, enabling informed decision-making in support of India’s long-term maritime vision.
