Telangana is gearing up to roll out an integrated Logistics Master Plan along with a new Logistics Policy 2.0, a twin initiative aimed at positioning the State as a leading inland cargo and logistics hub in the country.
The proposed master plan will comprehensively assess the State’s existing logistics infrastructure and supply-chain capabilities while laying out a phased roadmap for future development. Complementing this, Logistics Policy 2.0 will provide a long-term strategic framework to drive multimodal connectivity, reduce logistics costs and strengthen the resilience of supply chains, according to people familiar with the policy initiative.
At the core of the new policy is a six-pillar approach that seeks to address both hard and soft infrastructure gaps in the logistics ecosystem. These pillars include infrastructure development and multimodal integration; digital and smart logistics solutions; regulatory simplification and ease of doing business; sustainability and green logistics practices; skill development with a special focus on increasing women’s participation in the logistics workforce; and investment promotion and innovation.
Officials said the policy is expected to place strong emphasis on seamless integration of road, rail and air cargo networks, leveraging Telangana’s central location and its expanding industrial base. The State aims to improve first-mile and last-mile connectivity to industrial clusters, agri-logistics zones and consumption centres, while also promoting logistics parks and warehousing hubs along key transport corridors.
Digitalisation will be another major thrust, with plans to encourage the adoption of smart logistics platforms, data-driven supply-chain management and technology-enabled tracking systems to enhance efficiency and transparency. Regulatory reforms under Logistics Policy 2.0 are expected to focus on simplifying approvals, harmonising rules across departments and reducing procedural delays for logistics and warehousing projects.
Sustainability is also set to feature prominently, with the policy likely to incentivise green logistics practices such as energy-efficient warehouses, adoption of electric vehicles and reduced carbon footprints across supply chains.
Skill development initiatives will aim to create a future-ready logistics workforce, including targeted programmes to encourage greater participation of women in the sector. At the same time, investment promotion measures are expected to attract private players and foster innovation in logistics services and infrastructure.
Together, the integrated Logistics Master Plan and Logistics Policy 2.0 are expected to play a key role in lowering logistics costs, improving the competitiveness of Telangana-based industries and building an inclusive, resilient supply-chain ecosystem aligned with the State’s broader economic growth plans.
