Logistics major Delhivery has launched a nationwide network of more than 1,000 dedicated rest facilities, branded as “Vishram”, for delivery associates across nearly 600 cities and towns in India.
The initiative covers major urban centres including Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Lucknow, and is open to delivery personnel regardless of the platform, employer or sector they work in. The facilities are intended to support workers engaged in e-commerce, quick-commerce, food delivery and traditional courier services.
According to the company, the Vishram centres have been established to address the lack of basic roadside infrastructure available to delivery associates, who often work long hours in challenging weather conditions.
Prashant Gazipur, Chief Operating Officer – Operations at Delhivery, said delivery associates form the backbone of India’s digital commerce ecosystem and frequently face demanding working environments, including extreme weather and limited access to rest facilities. He noted that the initiative seeks to bridge this infrastructure gap and improve working conditions for gig workers.
The centres are fully operational and provide delivery personnel with a safe place to rest during shifts, seek shelter during heavy rains and adverse weather, and take breaks during late-night delivery schedules.
By opening its network of over 1,000 rest centres to all delivery partners, irrespective of the platform they serve, Delhivery aims to set a new benchmark for welfare and support infrastructure in India’s rapidly expanding gig economy.
