CMA CGM has announced changes to its Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) covering cargo movements between North Europe and the Red Sea, as well as shipments from Asia to South Africa and Mauritius. The changes will take effect from August and September 2026.

For cargo moving from North Europe to the Red Sea, CMA CGM will reduce the PSS to US$500 per container, effective September 1, 2026, based on the loading date. The surcharge will apply to all cargo except out-of-gauge shipments.

Separately, the carrier will introduce a US$100 per TEU PSS for shipments from Asia to South Africa and Mauritius, effective August 20, 2026, and continuing until further notice.

The revised charges will be applied in addition to the applicable basic freight rates. The adjustments reflect CMA CGM’s ongoing efforts to manage changing operating conditions and freight-market dynamics across key trade corridors.

For shippers, the changes will alter the overall landed transportation cost on the affected routes, with the North Europe–Red Sea trade seeing a reduction while Asia–South Africa and Mauritius cargo will face a new surcharge.
