Airbus has awarded Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd. (MASPL) a multi-year contract to manufacture and supply fuselage skins for its A320neo and A321XLR aircraft, strengthening India’s role in Airbus’ global aerospace supply chain.
Under the agreement, Mahindra Aerostructures will manufacture fuselage skins for Sections 18 and 19, covering the rear fuselage and tail sections. The scope includes eight skins for Section 18 and three for Section 19. The components will be produced at the company’s facility in Bengaluru and supplied to Airbus’ manufacturing facility in Augsburg, Germany.
Mahindra Aerostructures will expand its manufacturing capabilities through investments in advanced chemical milling, surface treatment and stretch-forming production lines. Engineering activities, including tooling design, process updates, qualification and inspection, are already underway, with deliveries targeted for 2028.
The contract forms part of Mahindra Aerostructures’ strategy to develop capabilities for manufacturing larger fuselage sections in India. It also follows a recently concluded Airbus roll-forming contract and builds on the companies’ existing partnership.
Airbus said the agreement demonstrates India’s growing precision-engineering and aerospace manufacturing capabilities, while Mahindra said the programme will support further investment in specialised technologies and infrastructure at its Bengaluru facility.
The latest deal adds to Mahindra Aerostructures’ existing Airbus programmes, which include manufacturing and assembly of the main fuselages of the H125 and H130 helicopters, as well as supplying components and sub-assemblies for Airbus commercial aircraft.
