Kakuzi, an agro-food processor based in Muranga, is poised to export its inaugural shipment of avocados to India by the end of this month. The consignment will include twenty tons of the Hass avocado variant, destined for Nhava Sheva port.

Chris Flowers, the managing director, emphasized the significance of this venture into the Indian market, highlighting it as a strategic move to enhance production capacity and diversify market opportunities for avocados and macadamias. “The Indian market is very discerning and remains quality conscious, and we shall seek to deliver the very best of sustainably produced Kenyan avocados,” Flowers remarked.

This expansion follows Kakuzi’s successful entry into various global markets, including Europe, China, and the Middle East, with a notable shipment of Hass avocados to Shanghai, China, and 562 containers to Europe and China in 2023.
